What's up....
My bulbs are coming to changeout time reall soon and I am wanting to try a different bulb. I am running 2 250watt Venture 10k single end bulbs right now. JL's said that these are very blue for 10k's and I somewhat agree. I want to try a new bulb this time and was thinking a true 10k or something that will make my colors a little more vibrant, not so blue. Any one have any ideas or experiences?
BTW...If anyone has some unused SE bulbs for sale let me know.

Most of the time the blue bulbs bring out the colors better. I prefer 14k bulbs to 10k but it's a personal prefrence. Some guys don't like the blue tinge. You have to see both to decide. I have 2 tanks side by side the 10k looks way to yellow so am changing to 14k in that tank to.

I am very happy with my tank....maybe things aren't as colorful as they could be due to the fact that all the corals in my tank seems to be either brown or green or some other neutral color. I might make a bulb decision after I find a crazy colorful coral to get a better idea.

All this talk about bulbs has me thinking who's gonna help me out with a 10-14K 175 so I can bang together a DIY canopy and lite up my tank like C-Mas.lol.:icon_roll

I have a 10K and 14K bulb in my hood lighting up either side of the tank- I can't decide which I prefer - this was supposed to be a temporary set-up, but I still haven't made the move to a sleek, modern looking fixture like DentureDan has.

try a sun aquatics 10000k, or a ushio.
ushio's have insane output that 14k bulbs can only dream of.

You won't get any better color than what the 20,000k XM bulb will give you! I won't use any other bulb!

Where is the best place to order in the SunAquatics from? What would be the best 10k or 14k?

quinster has them for $65 +tax + shipping, (the guy that posted just above you).
depends what you want more, color or output, there will be a significant difference in PAR between the 10k and 14k.
I've got the 10000k, un-suplimented they're KIND OF yellow, but with suplimintation I find them very clear and white

Well, maybe I need to look at more tanks. I could possibly have a perfect combination???? Who knows. I have the venture 10ks with 2 110w uri superactinics for suplementation. I want to have a little bit of research done before changeout time is on me.
$65 bucks seems to be a reasonable price for a 250se bulb. Thanks
