How do most of you maintain a constant water temp? It seems mine is always a little to hot, any Ideas on how to keep it running cooler?

I have T5 lights with 4 fans in the hood and a semi air conditioned room, I am going to add a fan into the bottom cabinet with the sump as I think it gets hot in there, soon I will see if that helps but am looking for more ideas.

82f is the high, I like it below 80 around 78f or so, what do others think?? What temp should a reef tank be kept at?

78 to 80 once my tank hits 81 my controller turns on a clamp on fan to blow across the water surface.

I keep my tank 77-78, the tank is in the basement but i still have a big fan to keep the MH's cool.

i try to keep mine at 78-80F.
if it starts getting too hot, i float a 2L bottle of frozen water in the sump. (i keep a couple in the freezer at all times)
MUCH cheaper than buying a chiller.

Your probably fine man as everything n the tank is used to it. Mine was the same when running T5's and it fluctuated about 3-4 degrees from morning till night, and never caused any issues. I was originally worried about it too but things seemed fine.

Switched to the LED's a few months back not my temp is 76 and creeps to a high of 77.4, so the culprit is most definitely the lighting but not much you can do about it so I wouldn't sweat it too much if 81 is the high.

I use central air conditioning to keep the house cool, and a 4-fan bar across the back of the sump. I would have a fan bar across the back of the tank too but the clips for the fans aren't big enough to fit over the trim. My tank goes up to 84 in the summer which my tank doesn't mind, but it does not like to hit 86. I would like to have it no higher than 82, but it is what it is.
