what is the best way to deal with it? i have a massive outbreak. i am doing 20 gal water changes every 2 days now to try and catch up.

Go see Colby and get Red Slime remover I battled cyano for 6 to 8 months for no reason the product worked perfectly and no ill effects on tank besides my skimmer going nuts but that will pass.

When do ur water changes suck out the cyano and as long as you keep doing water changes weekly it should go away.
