View Full Version : Fluval spec
I bought this today and transferred some water, sand, and a piece of rock from an existing setup. I had some LEDs lying around so I used them for a light. Tiny feather dusters come out when the royal blue LEDs are on and look fluorescent. I think one of those nano skimmers that Pats sells would fit in the built in filter in the back. I'm hoping to keep a small soft coral under the 20000k LED.

Added a xinea frag and a couple hermits. I'm getting some hair algea so I added a small protien skimmer to help keep the nutrient level down without having to do daily water changes. The skimmer was of skim mate right away then has been producing a slow constant foam since.

Add one of the mini carpet anenomies that Pat has would be pretty cool in the little tank....
Yah. I think so too. I want to make sure I can keep it stable first. I added a small canister (zoo med). The stock pump for the spec is rated at 40gph and the canister filter is 79gph. So now with the stock pump feeding the zoo med I am getting good flow and added water to the system. Would one of those maxi mini carpets be okay in a tank this small?

Well they don't get more than 14 cm's in size even then that's large most are smaller, if you can keep the params stabile I think they would do fine

You may want to wait before adding too much Kyle just to make sure everything remain nice and stable. I'd had to see anything of any sort of size die in a small tank like that as it would throw tings out of whack quickly....
Pat said he plans to keep getting them in so you should always be able to get them.
I could also give you some corals if you want have quite a few softies and such in my tank.. :)
Cheers

That looks like a very nice tank:) I like it!
Thanks guys. I just used my iPhone camera.
That's a pretty cool looking tank. Personally, I would put some sweet Ricordea in there and some Zoas.

Some new corals. Big thanks to Jan. The leather is slowly opening Jan said it was being nipped at so it would be slow to open.
