I was wondering if anyone uses some sort of backup power supply to power pumps, etc. when/if the power goes out. Or if anyone would know where to get a decent one. I had a ups for a computer but found it lasted only 15 minutes tops with 2 pumps (1 return pump - 85watts and 1 mj400 - 5watts) running on it.

i have a 1000va ups for my aquariums.
i have it running one pump on the stingray tank and the sump pump on the saltwater tank.
the second pump on the stingray tank and the closed loop pump on the salty don't need to be on the ups.
i'll eventually get the saltwater tank a good sized ups of it's own and run the skimmer with it as well as the sump pump.
