Does anyone know if putting magnesium oxide in my refugium is beneficial or am i just about to kick a dead horse?

Generally people use Mg chloride and to a much lesser extent Mg sulfate. According to Randy Holmes-Farley the best ratio would be 8.5:1 respectively to supplement magnesium levels. Why do you want to put it in your refugium?
