How hard are clams to keep and what kind of lighting do they need i got a 33 gallon salt tank with alot of live rock and 110 watts of lighting. is that ok

you'd be pushing it with a squamosa, but any other kind of clam is out of the question.

If you can afford to upgrade your lighting a clam can be the center piece of your tank. I did keep a Squamosa under PC but I had 500watts at the time.

YEP! Talk about going to extremes. However, make sure you are prepared for the heat it will generate!

What about a hipp ummm hippoptomus clam. I read somewhere that those require little light, maybe that would be within the limits and I do believe Colby has one of those on his website right now.

Hey Scott,
You are right the Hippopus clam requires the least amount of light compared to Maixma, Corcea, Squamosa, Derasa and Gigas. They can thrive under PC's and VHO lighting.
