niagra falls!!

well after setting up my overflow and sump yesterday i have a new problem i have a really loud water splashing sound
my lifereef came with a silencer i dont have a sucking sound just like water is running and splashing sound
anyone have any sugestions?

Try and put a piece of foam in bottom of the overflow-just a thin peice to break the "fall" of the water-not to much foam though you don't want to restrict the "overflow".lol..kinnda defeats the purpose.

make sure your piping for your overflow to your sump is always running diagonal. the more you can stop it from falling vertical, the more quiet it will be. Also, when its entering the sump, run the pipe down to as close as the surface of the sump water as possible. Good luck!

so different from mine..have foam cover on water in overflow.as well as cover on outside of overflow and its quite..nothing on bottomactually i took a gatevalve out i had in place as didn't need..

Talk to Darren, his are setup right. Never know he has any external overflows they are so quiet.
