Could a guy figure out a way to use wind and solar energy to give power to his tank?

I've heard of people using geothermal heating to keep their tank at temperature. then a guy could use solar panels to help with the electricity consumption. To my knowledge it is pretty expensive to set up a solar panel system The panels are a butload of money, then batteries, and the list goes on. but it would pay for itself after a long while. i was thinking about using solar panels until i found out how expensive they were. I figured i couldnt afford something like that right now.

okay scrap that crazy idea right now lol. The ROI is something like 15years with no break downs. It is possible but very expensive. T

here is a lot more to wind generation then spinning a wind mill & powering a tank. you'll need a windmill. Since the windmill may spin at different rates the AC created will be of all crazy frequencies. To get around this the next step is convert it down to DC. You then have to store the DC in batteries so you have enough power to run your tanks load & still be charging the system. The DC can then be converted into AC using a inverter with the proper load sizing of the tank.

*ROI-Return on investment

Its kinda my field so if you wanna know more let me know. Also I can make your tank completely automated & monitored and even create an interactive webpage. I can turn on a fish feeder from the internet & get feed back from all sorts of different sensers to check tank perameters in real time from anywhere. Crazy expensive but skys the limit. oh & the budget.

lol

pfff, that's already around, back to the drawing board for you.

in mho it wouldnt be worth it to set up solar panels to run your fish tank. Number 1 you want a reliable source of power for your lights, ect. If solar is the way for you, i'd use solar panels to collect the suns energy, store them in multiple 12V batteries, then convert the DC to 60Hz AC, the same stuff thats comming out of your wall. As your probably aware, AC is alternating, going up and down from positive to negative. get your 60Hz AC to be in sync with saskpower's, and you can feed any electricity you make back to saskpower and it'll just come off your bill at the end of the month. :icon_eek:

did you look at cost of 80 watt solar panels ($800 each).. to run my lights i'd need
4 sets of panels = $3200
pump+ heater 2 more= $1600
$4800 plus batteries to store and one mother of a ups to convert back to 120 v 60 hz..thats usable ..
thought of this once to power my house..figures on $9000 US dollars to get close to my average consumption with no storage (another $1200 US for a good forklift battery)$10200 when my average yearly bill is $1200 ..would take 10 years to pay for IF IT made my full requirements.Tell That one to the loans officer..
personally I'd rather spend the money on my tank :)

did read what you wrote :) i've just been through this once..
so what exactly can you get "windmill" or the " electronics" to use it..
been tempted to start even if roi is long term..
