Last night my Flame Hawk jumped out of the tank and landed on the hard wood floor. I scooped him up with my hands and threw him back into the tank. He was out of the tank for like 12 sec. So far he is still alive. Has anyone else experienced a fish jumping out of the tank and had it survive?
Just wondering what his chances are.

Only freshwater...Had a Discus freakout and launch himself out, I was there at the time and may have only been out 4-5 seconds but he was fine.. Last week a Flying Fox did just that...When I found him he was moist at best and only wiggling a bit, tossed him in the carpet fuzz floated off him, he floated to the bottom but did survive..

I'm thinking that the hardwood floor wouldn't be as soft as carpet, but he is swimming around and seems good.

I was carrying a 5 gallon pail full of my 15 large sized goldfish from the pond inside to their winter tank. From the top of 9 stairs, I slipped and then threw the pail forward launching all the fish (and their 3 1/2 gallons of water) down the stairs. They all landed right at the bottom. I ran down and scooped up some water from their tank and then furiously (whilst repeatedly muttering expletives) picked each of them up, put them back in their pail and shortly after dumped them into their tank. They were kinda still for about half an hour but then seemed normal. All of them are still alive now over a year later.

My teenage daughter was feeding the fish and the flame hawk bit onto her finger & she yanked him out of the tank. The dog almost sat on him. he was thrown back in the tank - he pouted & hid for a few days and after a week or so was his old bold self.............always something new....My matted filefish just jumped out through a very small hole in the back shield last wednesday. he flopped around on the glass top & got a small burn from the T5 bulbs - back in the tank he went - he hid out for a few days & is now back cruising and eating well..........
