Well here we are. Its almost been 9 months since I set up my first salt water aquarium. Things are looking pretty good for a newbie tank.

I set my tank up and let it run for almost 3 months before I added any livestock to the tank.

I was so excited I was telling everyone I knew about my cool fish tank and they'd ask what kind of fish I had. I'd answer, "I don't have any fish, just water and rock."

Well people thought I was crazy.

I want to say thanks to all the people who helped me out and hooked me up with equipment, corals and fish for my tank. It helps having a great community to ask for help when you need it.

Thanks so much.

They say Xenia grows like a weed. Well they are right. I think my frag was only two inches high when I got it and well.... now look at it.

I still think its cool

Ok I got a new coral today. A few of us did a Live order from J&L and I got a Large green hammer . Let me tell you it is large!

So I've had to rearrange my tank a little to accomodate it and I may do a bit more aquascaping yet but for now this works.

So here comes some pics. Enjoy.

Well its a sad day in Pauls Tank Land. I woke up this morning to find my two cleaner shrimp tag teaming my dead bicolor pseudochromis. They were just tearing into it! So cool.

AAARGH my first fish loss. Oh well. Makes room for something new.

Well finally added something new to my tank. It's been awhile.

I picked up a Royal Gramma from Pats Pets and it is just lovin the tank. Its checking out every nook and cranny in the rocks.

Pretty cool.

I'll try to get a pic up soon.

How many people have Royals here? I've always wanted one, never around when i go to the pet stores tho. Are everyones still living? I'm guessing that a dozen have gone through the pet stores in the last year. So sombody must have one.

I think Pats Pets could have one more left. Better Hurry!

And they'll have more on Friday night - I got mine from Pat's about four months ago. These fish are brightly coloured, hang by themselves, like to dwell in caves but do come out to eat and to catch some of the action, are smaller but can be feisty when defending their territory so are okay with bigger fish ... don't want them with other basslets.

My gramma seems to eat everything but likes meaty items best.

Well my Gramma is doing very well and enjoys exploring all of the caves in my tank. It loves meaty foods even tiny pieces of shrimp that I drop in while feeding my anenome.

I've even noticed it muching all of the amphipods it can get when I turn the lights on in the morning.

Very cool fish.

Also in the last few weeks I've added three frags of zoos, one montipora digitata, and sold my Xenia forest. I'll be looking to get some more corals to fill the void and will have pics of the zoos up tomorrow.

Ok here are some updated pictures.

Green Zoos
My Royal Gramma & Zoos
Sebae Anemone
Green & Blue Zoos
Orange Zoos

When I first bought my anemone it was toatally bleached out. Of course It was an impulse buy so i didn't realise it wasn't supposed to look like that. But it just hung out in my tank and I didn't do anything special to it to get it healthy. It just did it on its own.

Yeay Sebae!

I got a tiny frag of brown xenia from Farmer John when I set up. The thing is now a *huge* beautiful, pulsating centerpiece. My xenia grows like a weed, its true, but then I can frag it and move it around to populate other areas. Or I can give it away for newbies to start their tanks with. I love the stuff because of the hardiness and the movement. The green hairy mushroom I got at the same time as the xenia was the size of a quarter. Now, its the size of a softball, and is in 4 distinct pieces.

I love my small salt tank. Its been a real PITA sometimes, but its all definately worth it. Oh, and Pat has (had?) peppermint shrimp if anyone wants some. Corey bought me two. :oD

Just remember that neat pulsating xenia grows like weeds and can get out of control. It will harm corals and mushrooms if to close to them.
