Neat idea for camoflaging outlets

Got this from a marine reef group I subscribe to:

"I will be setting up a reef system soon. What I planned to do is coat the
exposed PVC parts with silicon then roll them in crushed coral. I was
thinking that this might help mask the pipes."

Great idea if you are talking about pipes on the bottom off the tank. Might look stupid if you are talking about return pipes and pipes above rock work. Most of this stuff gets covered in coraline and that helps to hideit or at least make it look a little better.
