Well, the tank is 5 months old now. It's been through the diatoms, the cyano and a terrible algae bloom. It seems to be more or less stable now. There have been some casualties along the way; 2 feather dusters, a cleaner shrimp, 2 chromis, a clown and a coral beauty. There have been successes also. All fish with the exception of the blenny hand feed. The cleaner shrimp has also figured out who brings the food and he swims upside down to the top of the tank to take Formula 1 flakes from my fingertip. My zoathids have tripled in number and my single xenia is now five. Pink and purple algae colonies are popping up all over the rocks and some kind of marco algae is starting in one corner. Its interesting to see all the new things pop up as the tank matures.

Special thanks to ScaryGary for seeing the tank through it's semi-chernobyl last month. :rose:

Your welcome Kelli. The main thing is to hang in there. We all go throgh this major headachs. As the tank matures the problems usually become less and farther apart. Thats not to say we can,t all of a sudden have major problems, but like anything else rewarding in life you usually have to work at. My major headach happened this past week, when 33gals. of mixed water ended up on the 3rd level floor. Carpet has to be torn up to relace swollen K3 and probably will replace carpet as well. Made me think about shuting down. That thought only lasted for a short while. My wife said don't be stupid and end something I love doing. So next time she's ****** at me about marine related stuff, I can say you had your chance to get rid of it. P.S. Do not use cheap thin mixing pails to hold your mixed water.
