Aptaisia can be controled with peppermint shrimp, copperband butterfly, and joe's juice. I've had great success with the first two. Try the peppermints first as they are fairly cheap and usually work.

I'll second the peppermint shrimp. Mine were monsters when I introduced them to the aptasia

My experience was that the peppermint shrimp would eat the smaller aptasia but not the big stuff - I used Joe's Juice with success for that.
You can borrow my bottle of Joe's Juice if you like.

Make sure you try to under feed the tank, because if the shrimp are getting lots of left overs they will less likely go after the aiptasia.

you can also injsct them with Kalkwasser...blast them with boiling water...or defrost some food in water, pour off the excess water off the food and mix the Kalk in with it...the remnants of food (and smell) will be left behind, and the aptasia will eat it up...kalk and all!

If its only on a singe rock, depending how big it is(if its only a couple pounds) you may just want to chuck it.

Why would you chuck it. If it's that bad take it out and cover it with boiling water for awhile, it will kill everything on the rock, You can than reuse it and after time it will become live again from the other rock.

took out the old syringe and made some hot water and gave each a shot...
I'll give them a couple weeks then i try something else..
they didnt really like it....:) and for the price of live rock i really don't want to harm it...

Well I guess its time I put in my 2 cents. When I 1st started the salt thing I got one little rock anenome and I thought it was so cool. Then it multiplied wow this is great now I have 2, then 4, then 8, u get the idea. In about 6 months I had litterally thousands. My 33g tank full of rock was covered in these from small to quite large. It looked like live grass! I realized I may have a problem so I did the needle with hot water, baking soda, kalk. Nothing really worked. They were spreading faster than I could do anything. One day I read about peppermint shrimp. I bought a small shrimp about 1" long. Next morning I had, no word of a lie, less than half of the things left! Within a few days no more anenomes. Its been about 2 years rock anenome free!!!!
Good luck,
Jason
