simple conclusion: use 1.5" pipe at the minimum for applications over 1000gph.
I also find it funny the "use 2 45 angle fittings instead of 1 90 degree" doesn't seem to make much difference except for 1.25", 2" and 4". Even more odd is how in 1" pvc, 2 45 degree fittings causes more loss than 1 90 degree...go figure.
