I was just observing my tank, and noticed coming out of some rock was a worm??? about 2 inches in length, segmented, each segment has a {leg or hair out of each side} it is almost grey to grey red, and about 1/4 inch in width. I wanted to see if it was attached to rock, I touched it with a rod, and it retreated back into the hole and havent seen it since. Does anyone know what this might be? Where might it have come from? and is it dangerous to corals and fish? thanks Denture dan

Sounds like a bristle worm to me. A harmless scavenger.

Harmless to the tank yes, but don't try to grab it with your bare hands!!
Those hairs are worse than fiberglass slivers!! :icon_eek:

Yeah - ouch! Those suckers can get big, too . . . where is the picture of that guy with the worm stretched out beside his truck - or was that a joke? Anyway, they can get really big! I think they're cool!

That wasn't a bristle worm that was a Eunicid worm. :icon_eek:

yikes, that's thing's massive. that guy's tank is massive :D I can't imagine tearing it down to look for a worm :|

Hey Muck - thanks for the memory jog . . . yeah, that's right eunicid - but still a worm, eeek!
