I went to Brian's place so often, so I had not taken the pictures with his tank. Brian should post some soon.

I think so, so anyone should join the tour next time. Shawn's set up also amazing, everyone should see it in person.

You are welcome, but mine is not a great cam. Brian will post some nice one soon, also some gathering during the tour.

The tour started at Brian Smyth's in Hillsdale with thirteen people in attendance - Brian has moved recently from a 33 gallon tank to a 90 gallon tank. He has a DIY metal halide 400 watt lighting system and has about 40 corals in his tank along with eleven fish, cleaner shrimp and crabs and snails. Brian has a separate room behind his tank that holds the skimmer and sump - he will be adding a refugium to this area soon.

Second stop on the tour was Shawn Lipon's - Shawn's corals were showing considerable growth since our visit to his home last fall - Shawn maintains that his kalkwasser and vinegar solutions are helping this situation.

Our group became quite talkative as we covered the right number of snails and crabs to have per gallon and we discussed RO versus tap water; we had some talk about fine sand versus crushed coral versus nothing for the bottom of a tank - Shawn has gone to a clear bottom in his set-up.

Shawn's sone Drew has a nano tank going on in his bedroom, so we checked that out also. The sump room at Shawn's has two really big pharmaceutical grade containers in them - Shawn feels that the larger a sump you have, the less work you'll have to do with your tank.

We ventured on to Jason Kozey's to view his set-up before he moves from an apartment into a home in Walsh Acres.

Jason is a gung ho convert to running a UV system on a tank and his water looked very pristine, so there seems to be proof! No evidence of algae anywhere. There was plenty of discussion about fish, corals and options for setting up a tank.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the tour - it was fun and informative. Thanks to those who hosted us on the tour, too.
