what types of puffers? like the dogface? porcupine? tobies? I had a porcupine for a number of years, what seemed to survive was large turbo snails and large hermits, also had a few brittle stars which I dont think he ever knew were in there. If you have fine sand, nassarious snails can do an awsome job of stirring the sand and cleaning it. I would stick with large turbo snails, and large hermits if you can find them, maby test a brittle star which are amazing at lowering nitrates just by cleaning up all the crap in your sand and behind the rocks. But in the end, nothing is absolute and EVERYTHING (rock, sand, heater, filter tube) is fair game when it comes to puffers.

if not then i'm going crab huntin tomorow..any clues who's got some bigguns :)...
o and yeah HAD snails many kinds..and so did the puffers..kinda likin the crab idea.maybe they have a fightin chance..

no land and marine hermits are different, but sometimes you can find marine hermits teh size of those land hermits, thats about teh size your looking for (unless the puffer if over 5-6" then he probably would just ignor the tiny blue legs or scarlets), and from time to time you can find huge turbo snails like the size of your thumb, they work nicely aswell. Just so you know, A1 doesnt have any as I was there today, unless you want some popcor--I mean pepermint shrimp...:)

most likely you will need to ask if they can order you in some large guys, or J and L has XXL hermits on their specials list the odd time.

Hey carry,

Where do you live? Regina? I have some huge turbo snails, some are about the size of a golf ball!

Large turbos and hermits are pretty crafty all right.

I keep them in my trigger tank. They glue themselves down tightly during the day and come out at night to eat.
