I just got a 1000 skimmer and finished installing it but i seem to be getting alot of micro bubles comeing from the water outlet!I never got any instuctions or a box for it so i was wondering if you guys use those black boxes for the outlet! Are those meant for reducing bubbles?I am useing one of them and it outputs the water right at the surface so it works great and i really dont want to have to put the other box on if i dont have to!Any thoughts? Also about where should the foam stop(start to get dry) in the cup?I am not sure where to set those 2 dails on it!

Thanks

I am haveing a problem getting any "dry" foam out of this thing yet.I have tried running it with the dials all the way forward and also with the dials all the way backward, and everywhere in between. All i seem to get is a wet foam at the base/bottom of the cup.The only time it seems to push out foam is when i feed the fish, and that foam is very wet!The tank has only been running for a week and i have been feeding very sparingly is it possible that there is nothing in the water for the skimmer to pull out yet?I used all freshly mixed water to fill the tank with.Any thoughts?

Thanks
Jeremy

I think you hit the nail on the head. It will take a bit of time for the organics to become present in the tank. My turbofloater has never given me a dry foam, but theres nothing wrong with a wet foam.

Okay, i thought that may be the reason. As for wet foam i agree but this is really wet with no color to it at all!I will give it another week and see what happens!
Thanks

The clear wet foam may be the result of a surfactant in a water conditioner ( if you used any). We had the same problem with our TF1000 multi and it turned out to be some Cycle stuff we were using. It took a while to sort itself out. We only use RO/DI water now and haven't had a problem since. Our's doesn't put out any "dry" foam but on our 55gal tank it puts about a 1/4" a day of putrid, stinky, ichy black slime in the cup. We have also found that the "throttles" don't work for beans and are both wide open. Our skimmer is set up on the tank and we use both dischage boxes, both have a small bag ( toe off a pair of nylons ) of carbon inside. We have found our skimmer to have been well worth the investment.

Cheers
