Well my perc eggs hatched tonight.A few more than the last time. 100's of the little buggers. Left them in the main tank 1 extra day. You where right on Joe. 8 days till hatching. Rotifers are suppose to arrive tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sweet! I'll definately subsidize your hobby by buying two or three if you can get some to survive. Corey and I are also wanting to eventually try breeding percs. We've been reading about fairly large scale rotifer culturing as this seems to be the main problem- having enough for the larvae to eat. Good luck with yours.

I'm very lucky I got to stop by Gary's last night and check this out. Very cool to see those perc's fanning the eggs.
Looks like we got that dottyback out of there just in time!

Up date on the hatching. Things have not gone well. Had a least half the babies died the first night. When I syphoned them out it smelled like I had landed a 20lb. pike, the smell was so fishy. Did'nt expect that from those tiny fish. First mistake was leaving unhatched eggs in the tank. I think they polluted the tank. I think a person has to do 2 or 3 water changes a day. My rotifers arrived a day late, so more died. Not at home to do more water changes so more casulties. Only about 10 living now and they are eating so maybe some of those will survive. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks Joe. I think I'll take a break for little while. 6 are still alive and have doubled in size. Been try to do two syphonings and water changes a day.Maybe I'll end up with a real life nemo. The only one alive after all the hatchings. Can I borrow that brine shrimp hatchery if darren says its o.k.

Gary, I have something that will work to grow out the shrimp if you want to borrow it. Hard to explain, but it worked great when I used it.

Last guy died this morning. He was about the size of a new born guppie. This lets you realize how small it was when born. It was a week old. Mama should lay tue. or wed. Have'nt decided if I'm go to try again or wait till fall to try again.
