I know you need a large tank because they grow huge, but how deep of a sand bed do you need to keep a Horseshoe Crab

I'd reccommend 2" at least, they aren't reef safe in the least though. The may not eat everything in a voracious frenzy, but the will knock over corals and munch on anything they can get on top of.

But they are great for stirring up the sand bed!

It would also have to be a fine sand bed, correct? It wold have to be suger sized and not crushed coral

In the wild, horseshoe crabs burrow in mud and sand flats and according to online sources will do best in your tank if you have a sandy substrate. I think horseshoe crabs are very fascinating - they are from before the time of dinosaurs ... back at the dawn of visible life on earth.

Yes, they will move around things that lay on top of your sand, but I haven't had problems with them knocking around corals that are on my live rock.
