Can i put this penguin bio-wheel on my 30 gal nano? It has that spinning wheel that "Eliminaes toxic Ammonia and nitrite on Contact" I want it for more water movment and be able to add carbon when ever its needed.

I would pop the bio-wheel off and go ahead and use the filter. Those bio-wheels are a pain and just creat massive ammounts of saltcreep. You allready have all the biological filtration you need comming from your live rock.

I beg to differ and run one on my 10 gal. and abigger one on my 65gal. Why would you remove something that is helping biologicaly. As far as I can see the more filtration the better. As for salt creep I get more of that in other places.

i agree with gary do not get rid of the biowheel .they hold lots of good ammonia and nitrite eliminating bacteria.i run 2 - 7 in biowheels on my reef and a small one on my nano and even when adding uncured rock i get no amm or nitrites and it does not add nitrate .i have never had a amm, nitrite, other than 0.the only time you get rid of the wheel is if you have a power outage of longer than 2hrs if your wheel dried. if you need more movement try a powerhead or external canister filter with only carbon.

I agree with you guys. I had a bio-wheel for many years on my 30gal tank when I first started out. I never had any problems with amm or nitrites no mater what I did to my tank. But if you already have sufficient bio filtration and all you want is more water movement just add a power head.
