I came across these picture of a reef tank with naturel lighting,i just tought that this was pretty cool and just wanted to share this idea,it's a good way to save money.
Let me know if you guys and girls see anything wrong with this idea.

Kind of a neat idea. I would imagine it wouldnt work TOO well around here, seing as the sun is only up for how many hours during the day in the winter. Also, would be a pain to only be able to enjoy your tank when it is light outside, I know my tank lights are one from 4pm-1am.

Yes i guess out here you would have to supply artificial lighting,but still,if you have a southern exposuse,you would only need a few hours in the morning and evening of lighting.
I do agree i would work better if you lived down south,then you dont need a tank,a swimming pool would be a good great tank:D

I think the cost for those things is quite high as well. Anyway to save energy use will probably pay off in the long run though.

I think they are about $300 - $400 each.
so sweet, right when i got into the hobby i heard of those lights. like a well projected sunroof , i always thought about useing them for a reef tank. couldent find one thing about anyone trying them.
would be awsome, for morning to night cycle thoe. and i read on bright nights they make a awsome blue effect.
