i have a naso, and it likes to eat the caulerpa from my sump. could this be at all problematic ie; the nitrate-phosphate is processed back into the water column?

I would think that as long as your skimming and (more importantly) doing water changes you have nothign to worry about. The nutrients would still exported from the system as if you were harvesting the caulerpa.

You would be putting new nutrients in with any other food you feed anyways, with your caulerpa at least your fish are getting fresh greens and it costs alot less.

From my reading, feeding the used caulerpa will basically put back into the tank everything the caulerpa took out. Kinda defeating its purpose.
