While diggin around in my tank i came accross, one mother of god ugly worm, turns out to be what i think is a medusa worm. I put on a rubber glove and tossed it out, just because i couldn't stand to look at it, now it looks i may have at least 2 or 3 more, from what i read they are good to have or have i read it wrong.

There are 2 or 3 kinds of worms called medusa. The one I bought had a crown like a feather duster and a body like a worm, it was 4 inches long. It could move pretty fast, for a worm. Mine died or was killed and wiped out most of my fish. If yours are the same I would get rid of them....

I think my Madusa's are of the (Loimia) speicies, worm like bodies yellowish brown in color, with tiny tenicale like sweepers, it looks like the bodies stay beneath the sand, in one place and all you really see are the tiny sweepers.

The only way i found out what they were, was i guess i disturbed one and found it crawling on the glass.
So far i don't think i could contribute any death's in the tank to these things, but who knows, i have not been able to find much out about them yet, but im pretty sure on the ID as i was able to find a photo of one, in one of my books. They are obscene in looks. yuk.

I have a bunch of them in my tank. They don't bug me so I don't bug them. We've been living happily together for many years.
