I just cleaned my sand filter and threw away the sand. I was wondering if anyone uses them for anything else besides sand. I may just put some carbon in it and use it for that. Any other suggestions???
Thanks.......

Any kind of phosphate removal media would probably work well because fluidized bed filters operate very similarily to a phosban reactor. By keeping the media constantly moving and somewhat in suspension, channelizing is prevented and more surface area of the media is exposed to your water allowing for more efficient removal of excess phosphate.
