Was wondering if people had any opinions/concerns/comments/experiences about DIY overflows. From what ive been reading, the concept is fairly simple, and do-able. Obviously there are flooding issues, but if done right (correct me if im wrong) there is little or no chance? Due to the fact I am not keen on ripping down my setup to install an internal overflow (would rather like) I was thinkin about building something along the lines of this: a smaller/modified version would work very well in my setup.

Let me know what you think.

I would not use an over flow like that. Make one like the life reef using 2 u tubes. Just make sure ur pump is fast enough that one doesnt start sucking air. This way if one fails the other is still going. Ive looked several times to see one has failed but the other has kept working and prevented floods.

Yea i was wondering about that. The tube idea would probably be a better idea. What size of tubes does yours have and what GPH is the siphon able to handle(min/max).

3/4 inch and it can handle up to 1000gph if im not mistakin. DO NOT QUOTE ME THO. Im not positive and i dont wnat ur basement flooding. I know i have a 750gph pump befor head loss running and it keeps it flowing well tho. I think after head loss im around 650pgh.
