It will work, however the cost of the pump alone isn't too much more than a euro reef or asm skimmer. Yes it will work but It won't work as effective as you may hope.

I have a few pumps kickin around here. I may tinker with this project over the winter just to get a better understanding of how they work. I have most of the parts in the shop anyways. I will see how ambitious I feel. Just thought it was interesting what some people come up with.
