Just Got a 6' skimmer and am wondering
does the height of the water have to be controlled by out flow ,cannot it be controlled by valve after pump
wanna bring this thing down to 3' , 6' is way to tall

As far as I know, placing a valve after the pump will only regulate how fast the water moves through the skimmer instead of adjusting the height of the water column in the skimmer. Your best bet is probably to just plumb in a gate valve on the outflow of the skimmer. That way you will have more control regulating the height of the water column in the skimmer body and this will also allow you to adjust your skimmate to be wetter or drier.

well this is the wierdest skimmer i have ever seen...
the pump is on a loop from 2' to bottom with the injector in the loop...
the water in is at 2' as well and the water out is at 5'...
they way i see it the water in should be coming from (tank) through the pump -injector -into skimmer around the bottom (max mix time)...
and the water out should be about 2' and have a gate valve to control the height..
tempted to fire this thing up to see if it realy works just gonna need an extra 20 gallons of water to fill it to 5'
