Very Cool! MJ Stream Mods

Hey!

Found this cool demonstration on how to turn a 300gph Maxijet pump into a 1600gph Tunze Stream-like pump in only about 10 minutes of work.

I did a similar mod a while back to an Aquaclear 402 powerhead . The amount of flow coming out of it was incredible however there were several major inconvienences. The AC 402 seemed to lack the power to start in the correct direction underwater so the pump had to be started out of the water each time the power went out. The addition of a stopper to correct the propeller from spinning the wrong way also did not work with the AC 402 and the prop would simply just jam up against it. As well, the addition of this powerhead to my system caused my braker to trip quite frequently so eventually I stopped using it all together. I would strongly recommend the use of the Maxi-jet powerhead for this mod rather than the Aquaclear models because although it can be done, the amount of problems with the AC's seems to be far greater than the Maxi-jets.

Hi, I just ordered 10 pack of Dumas 3004 props and 4 ft of the 0.98 carbon fibre rods. I also piked up 10 ft of the .180 carbon tube. If anyone wants some let me know and I will mark it down for when they come in (about a week).

Anyone know where to buy acrylic tubing, and schedule 80 pvc?
