I spotted some little white things on the clay pot a week ago that resembled eggs but they were quickly eaten by a nassarius snail, A couple of days later there was more on my back glass and i thought to myself, Are my fish spawning, heres some photo's.http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n203/Dallassask/Dallassstuff013.jpg

If these eggs look like little while curls, then no your fish are not spawning.

No they dont, they look like little whit dots surrounded by a clear coating. Each time they appear they dissapear after 2 days, In my mind they could be eaten by something or sucked up by the filter (AC20) or mabey there just infertile because let me tell you they do not act like a happy pair so mabey the female is laying them, (the one in the picture) and they male wont fertilize them, what do you think?

If there are multiple eggs in the clear sac (6/10) and some on the glass as well, my guess would be snail eggs.

Is it fairly common to have fish start to spawn after a while of being a pair?:fouetaa: If so, I have 2 black percs living in my GBTA and they have been mated since day 1 and hosted in the anenome here for around 6-7 months. what are my chances? unrealistic?
thanks

The eggs look WAY too spread out to be fish eggs. Usually they are laid in a dense mat. I did do a quick search and there are reports of these fish spawning in captivity, and fry have been raised on rotifers, but I couldnt find any pictures or descriptions beyond that vague recollection.

Well i know that green chromis spawn all the time in captivity so why not yellow chromis, There are now eggs all over my heater and back glass and lots this time, there is no way the nassarius snail in my tank laid them, ill try to get a picture, The is very little information on yellow chromis because as far as i know there not very popular but they were given to me by a fellow saskreefer and I love em. P.S. ill try to get a picture of the new eggs.

It is very possible that they are fish eggs. Alot of the fish in the ocean are egg scateres, which means they scater their eggs all over. It is very possible that the parents are eating the eggs after they have laid them, or maybe some other preditor like bristle worms.
If you want to know for sure what they are either collect some and move them to another tank with no other animals in it, or maybe try moving the parents to a differnt tank.

Most cameras have a dial. On the dial one of the settings is a flower. Turn it to that setting and shoot away!

,Iv tried it but the incondecent lights on my 10 gallon are really yellow so it may be discolouring the picture, plus i dont like to use flash because it makes it look scethcy and i need to use a tripod to not blur the picture during the exposer.

man let me come see them Ill probably be able to figure out what they are. Most likely they are your damsels spawing. If you look at the egg and you see a chromzone in the center then its a fish but if you are still un able to distinuish then its ether an un fertilized egg or snail eggs most likely not the snail.

The eggs dissapeared a long time ago, I already said that i think that the male didnt fertilize them, he doesnt like her too much... lol they were definately eggs though but hopefully when the male wants it a little more he'll fertilize them but meanwhile the female is just hanging out in the pot.

Do you think instead of eggs from a fish or snail, that it could be anthropods from your live rock?
I don't know, just a suggustion. :pimp:

with the macro setting you dont need to use the flash you will notice you can get real close to something and it wont be blurred in the view finder.try a book put the lens a couple inches from the print in normal setting and it will be blurred then hit the macro setting everything will become clear

:icon_mrgr Well the fish spawned again, this time on the front glass. but as I was examining the eggs the female swooped up and ate one of them, some kind of parent eh? Well looking at them up close i discovered that each egg was actually a round little cluster with about 20 eggs inside looking something like this,
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n203/Dallassask/eggs.jpg
I counted the sack's and there was 11 making roughly 200 eggs, not bad, But when I got home all of them had been eten, Why are they spawning just to eat them? could it be again that the male just doesnt wanna fertilize them so the female gets rid of them?
heres a picture,

If they are little pockets of eggs, like your drawing, my guess would be that it's not your fish spawning, but your snails. If you search the species of snail you have you might be able to find a picture of its eggs to compare.

Most Damsels and Chromis spawn in a very similar fashion to clowns. They lay the eggs all together in one spot and the male protects the eggs. You will also see only one embryo in each egg sac. Very unlikely that these are anything but snail eggs.

Is this what they look like?

So what should i do to stop the fish from eating them? is there anyway to get them off the glass without damaging them? I wouldnt mind having some more nassarius snails around.
