Since i cant get any decent Macroalgae growth in my main tank due to my Yellow tang going to town on anything green in the tank,i have decided to set up a small Refuge under the tank.I have access (fishfog) to a 9G sump/fuge and a lifereef overflow with maxijet return powerhead,my question is do you think a 9G fuge is going to be big enough for a 90G tank?It would fit really well under my tank but if its not going to make any difference then mabey i should go bigger.Any thoughts?

depends on how much macro you're content with keeping. 9g is a lot of algae if it's full. marcus k has a 10g fuge on his 90 setup and it seems to fare quite well

9G is better than 0G, it is small but better than nothing. Just make sure you don't have siphon probs. You might have to drill a small hole just below water line to break syphon in case of power failure. I'm not sure a MJ powerhead will work for a return but you could give it a shot. You might have to get a larger pump.

I would like to have it right full of Algae so mabey 9 gallons is big enough,as for the return, Darren(Fishfog) was using the maxijet as a return. To my understanding you want a fairly slow flow through a refuge,or is this not true?
Does anybody have any Macro that i could buy off of them once i get this thing going?

depends on the type of macro you have; chaeto likes extreme flow

One of the most popular macro algae on the market today is known as Chaetomorpha. Chaetomorpha grows very fast, will not attach itself to anything, and most importantly will not go asexual. When a macro algae goes asexual, basically it is dying and releasing all the nutrients it has dissolved over time back in to the water. This can be very fatal to your livestock, and is why I would highly recommend Chaetomorpha algae. This is by far the best addition any aquarist can add to his or her refugium.
