I had a yellow tang for about 2 months now which i just put in my display tank. 3 days after i put him in he was covered in black ich. Luckily I was able to catch him and place him back in my hospital tank. The reason I'm letting everyone know this is because of the alternative treatment for him I used. I did a fresh water dip on the fish for about 3 min. I placed him back in the q-tank and most of the spots were gone. An hour later they were all gone. Today he's healthy and in another week or two I'll put him back in the display tank. He didn't like the fresh water, in fact I thought he was dead cause he instantly tipped on his side but he's ok and healthy now.
Just figured I'd let you know my experience. I also used this method to kill the flat heads on the mushrooms I bought (you all know where). I dipped them for about 5 seconds swished them around and voila! no more flat heads.
