Wow, just finished hooking up my ro/di system this weekend, it runs to a 25 gln rubbermaid, and also to my sump, in both I have float valves and also have an extra outlet just for general usage. I will b nice not haveing to worry about adding top off water all the time, and that their should b no phosphates or nitrates from the Regina Tap Water.

It should make life alot easier for you. One thing to watch out for is the float valves sticking from salt creep etc. You might want to consider setting up an auto topoff using float switches like the Tunze auto topoff in the future. They have a float switch that will trigger a small pump in a resevior and a backup high level switch instead of a float valve, cost a bit more but safer for you (no floods). I have one and it works great. I have my RODI hooked up to a float valve to my Resevior then the Tunze auto topoff hooked to that. One thing to note is that RO'S TDS reading is always quite a bit higher each time it starts & stops so having it hooked directly to float switches/Valves etc for topoff you will always be adding water that has a higher TDS reading. I only turn on my RODI when the resevior gets low that way the auto topoff has water with a lower TDS because the RODI wasn't stopping & starting. Any of this make sense?

Hi

I just bought a spectra R/O and float vale/shutoff solinode, it says right on the instructions, that the float vale kit, was not designed to top off aquarium sumps. So how can i set this up with out having to have another container, this kinda s@#ks, because i will be able to install my R/O right beside the tank, so i will probably have a container to hold water changes, but i don't want any more containers beside the tank.

Can you locate the other container somewhere else? and set up an auto topoff to draw from there? If not you will need a float switch and somekind of electronic selenoid for your RO. I have seen it done not sure where though. I think someone used a electric sprinkler valve to start & stop water going to there RODI.

I've been using a float in my sump for over a year. It hooks directly to my R/O unit. What salt creep are you talking about? The float valve and seal that turns it off and on is under water. It might be missing something here, but seems easy to setup.
