Tank Stand

Hi

I am currantly buffing out some rust that was on a medal stand, nothing deep just sufface stuff, so the question is what kind of rust resistance paint would you guy's recomend i use to re-finish, and/or what else can i do to help keep splash off the stand, i heard somewhere you could wrap the stand in cling wrap. The theory being, i guess water can't get at the stand at all.
Anyone with any sugestions?

nothing like tremclad, but u can actually get a marine , salt water resistance paint from home depot, but you will proably have to have it ordered in.
