Hi
On Big Al's web site i saw this plankton reactor, it is suposed to cultivate zooplankton, is it worth while to run one of these, and a uv sterilizer, or would the sterilizer just kill the newly made zooplankton as it is created.
Thank's

the uv would kill most of what it created, also depends on where u put the uv before or after the plankton reacor.

So another word's it might accually pay to get one, if i run it after the uv, do you think it would help with say some of the zooplankton love'n corals as part food supply, before it run's the loop and gets killed off by the uv.

good reactors come with a uv on the outlet to sterilize the green algae as not to spread the breeding to main tank.without a uv the algae will spread.the uv does not kill the algae and phyto-zoo plankton but sterilizes it so it cant reproduce out of the reactor. as far as uv goes i run a 25w lifeguard and hve minimal problems with ick and algae,i also have a thriving zooplanton population in my tank, sumps, refugium etc.i would not feel comfortable running any tank fresh or salt without one.this is my only my opinion
