I was just rereading Eric B's article on what and how to feed your corals, and the bigest item he tries to emphasize is that majority or corals do not eat phytoplankton, yet I keep seeing everyone trying to feed phyto to their system. He does go on to say that the zooplankton in your aqua does enjoy eating phyto, but your corals especially sps eat mainly zooplankton and of course light.

I think this would b a great article for many of you to read, so u can either start feeding the right stuff to your system or at least to start saveing your self some money. Their r 4 parts to the article and it is a lengthy one if u decide to only read a bit of it please make sure to read parts 3 and 4 on phytoplankton and zooplankton.

Good luck everyone on the success of your aqua

Interesting reading... I just had time to skim parts 3 and 4. But I thought I would add my personal findings. When I first started into corals all I had was soft corals for the first couple of months. All I fed them was Marine snow and they seemed to do ok. I then started to get some LPS coral and I knew Marine snow would not be enough, so I started spot feeding them frozen food at night when their stingers where out. That went ok with the exception of my candy canes. They where difficult to feed that way being so small, so half of them dyed. My plan was to break off the died branch but being lazy I never did. I then bought some Dt's from Rick to try. With in a week of using Dt's they where coming back!!! I now feed my tank nothing but Dt's and a little Marine Snow. Everything is doing great even my one piece of SPS. The candy canes are now the size of my fist and adding a new polyp every month. That is my experience, take it for what it's worth.
