refugium

Does anyone have a Aquaclear 500 set up as a refugium? I had some kind of thicker plexiglass cut to fit to insert by the motor but i find my water flow is still to much. Any ideas on how to cut the flow down would be appreciated thanks.

i have my aqua clear 300 as oen and i just twist the intake hose so its on the least watermovementas possible, also u cud put a sponger inside the hose?
and use heavy live rock to weigh down sand and macro algea
