Well, I had my first flood this afternoon. I was woke up by my son saying "Dad get up, the tank's overflowing!" I spring out of bed, which is unusual for me and can hear the wife yelling from the basement "What do I do, what do I do?" I'm yelling "Shut it down" as I'm tearing down the stairs. I get downstairs, kill the power and go into the fishroom which now has a nice big wet spot on the carpet. The wife is running around throwing towels on the floor and all I can think is "Why? What happened here?" A quick look at the CPR overflow (really beginning to dislike that thing) shows the airline is right off the little nipple that keeps air out. Hmmm, Ok whatever, now that I know what happened I commence to cleaning. The wife meanwhile seems really "nice" right now considering there's about 20 gallons of saltwater in our basement carpet. Strange. So I start by saying how stumped I am that the airline "popped off" for no apparent reason. Trying to calm what I expected to be an insta-divorce situation. Then it happens. The wife says " Well the powerhead was blowing bubbles out and I thought I'd fix it by giving the airline a flick with my finger." AH HA! " I think I flicked it too hard though cause it came right off." Confession noted. Guilt passed. Bullet dodged. Whew. So now I'm giggling my ass off picturing her in a huge panic trying to get the airline back on as water is cascading over the front of the tank. Well worth the price of admission for this show. I was a little worried about my ballast for the MH as it was sitting in a puddle, but the insides are dry and it still works. Has been relocated for obvious reasons now. I needed a water change anyway, although wringing the water out of towels wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Aside from a damp carpet, that wasn't so bad. :xyxthumbs

Insta-Divorce avoided...hehehehe
Glad to hear you got it all cleaned up. Now just hurry up and get that drilled tank :) Hmmm, maybe this is now ammo for when you want to but the new tank. "Hey Dear, remember when the tank overflowed?"

Know the feeling when you first see all that water on the carpet. Glad you got it all cleaned up.

Don't forget to get the carpet shampooed . Had the same thing happen about 8 months ago . It will start to emit an odour . It is salt water after all . You can trust me on this.

If you soak it up really good a spray a bunch of lysol down it has worked for me with no lasting smells.

Easier to rip up carpet and put down hardwood. ha ha Couldn't get the mildew smell out of my carpet and it swoll up the K3 under the capet. Much easierclean up in basemet where there is no wood underneath.
