I currently do not have a sump for my display tank and therefore have to use a hang on protein skimmer. Because of this, I now have thousands of tiny bubbles constantly floating around in my tank that get sucked in by my two powerheads and blown all over the tank. At times the bubbles get so bad that the water almost looks milky in colour. I have tried attaching sponges to the drain on the skimmer to stop the bubbles from dropping too deep in the water but the powerheads still suck them in and blow them around. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how they went about reducing the bubble flow into the tank. Due to the stand I have and my living in a rental house, I can't use a sump to solve this problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am currently running a modified needlewheel driven seaclone 150. It does have an adjustable flow valve which is set at the minimum amount of air intake necessary to remove organics. If I turn the valve any lower, the protein laden foam doesnt go high enough to reach the collection cup and I get zero waste removal.
