Im thinking about moving my sump from under my tank to the basement. Reason, I am thinking of joining the sump is bigger than my tank club. The tank is almost directly above where I want my sump to be. Anyone have a suggestion on what kind of pump?

I run a Dolphin Ampmaster 3000 from the basement to my 90g I also have a spare Sequence Barracuda which works well to. I would recomend both.

I run a Dolphin Ampmaster 3000...

great pumps with low amperage, but very lousy with carrying high volume at high pressure. It works out if you don't need the amount of flow these are capable of, but if you're looking for high flow, i'd recommend a dolphin on a closed loop with a high head pressure rated pump for your return pump.

what I'm trying to say about the head loss with the dolphins is you could probably achieve the same flow with a cheaper pump that's pressure rated, thus being more "bang for your buck".

I have the same pump as rentaltux and have no problems about it. it's a great pump and very quiet. i've only got about 5ft of pressure on it, so I'm getting around 3000gph out of it. for low pressure high volume, they're awesome!

Thats exactly what I want to do as well . Less chance of a major flood as well . Please keep me in the loop .

Well guys, what did we decide on ? I really want to get started on this . Need to purchase an OPR Contoller and a pump . Qualifies me for FREE shipping.

Not too sure what Im going to do:damnit: , Probably have 9 feet to pump up to the floor and hoping around 4 feet to the tank and 5 feet up into the tank. Not sure yet.:scratch2: All this scratching is giving me a headache, Im going for a nap.

I'm figuring a MAK 4 might do the job.

Good Im glad It worked and you had no fatalities. Where is your tank from your sump?

Directly above . Just like you have planned . I'd like to get some of this wiring out of site. As well as the hum from the pump . Looks like that extra Oceanrunner pump I bought as a back up is going to collect dust .

Well its been some time now. Still havent set up the sump. Need to finish my newly built garage:xyxthumbs, then get the baby room ready, then rip out my deck so that dam rat doesnt have a place to stay. But by winter 09ish I should be ready to do the sump. ANYWAYS, I bought a MAK 4 for my new skimmer and I might get another to run the return to the tank. Does anyone have any pics of their sumps to share, Im out of ideas and Im getting a headache. Need more coffee
